SUMMER ART CLASSES

MUSEUM SAFARI 6 - 8 July 10 - 14 9am - Noon

Lions, tigers, and bears—oh my! Students on this museum safari will look for creatures in paintings and sculptures before making a menagerie of creative critters.

ARTFUL EXPERIMENTS 6 - 8 July 10 - 14 1pm - 4pm

Experiment with material, color, and texture during this class. Students will explore different artistic techniques as they paint, sculpt, and draw.

PAINT STUDIO 9 - 12 July 10 - 14 9am - Noon

This class is perfect for budding young artists itching to release their inner Picasso. Students will explore painting with acrylics and watercolors and produce their own works on paper and canvas.

CLAY STUDIO 9 - 12 July 10 - 14 1pm - 4pm

Get messy during this summer class that will teach students how to mold, shape, and manipulate different types of clay. By the end of the week participants will have their own three-dimensional works to take home.

HATS, HELMETS AND HEADDRESSES 6 - 8 July 17 - 21 9am - Noon

From paintings of women in extravagant hats, to helmets of all kinds and design, there’s a lot of headwear in the Museum. Collection over the course of five days, students will view different types of headwear coverings from around the globe and make their own!

KINGS AND QUEENS 6 - 8 July 17 - 21 1pm - 4pm

Enter the dazzling world of kings and queens and discover glittery and golden treasures in the Museum’s collection. Use gold leaf, sparkling gems, and other fun materials to create art that’s fit for royalty. 

FILM SCHOOL 9 - 12 July 17 - 21 9am - Noon

Learn about film production and make your own movie during this summer art class. Students will learn basic movie-making skills and applications while producing their own short film.

INTRO TO FASHION DESIGN 9 - 12 July 17 - 21 1pm - 4pm

Discover your own style and experiment with fashion during this class. Students will find inspiration for their fashion designs in the world around them and learn hand sewing and dying techniques.

WINGS, SCALES, AND TAILS 6 - 8 July 24 - 28 1pm - 4pm

Sculpt, paint, and draw creatures with wings, scales and tails during this summer art class. Tour the galleries to learn about mythical and magical creatures before heading to the studio to construct your own artistic animals.

DESIGN STUDIO 9 - 12 July 24 - 28 9am - Noon

Improve your skill on the sewing machine while learning basic garment construction. Each student will design and sew his or her own unique piece of clothing.

CLAY STUDIO 9 - 12 July 24 - 28 1pm - 4pm
