Presented by New Line Theatre
The New Line season closes with Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's political masterpiece, the rock opera EVITA, chronicling the spectacular rise and fall of the electrifying and controversial first lady of Argentina, Eva Peron. With the famous Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara as our narrator and guide, this is a story about the perpetuation of evil, the worship of personality, and the duping of the public. It's a heady mix of political potboiler, a monstrous Cinderella tale, and a dash of Richard III. And though the show has traditionally been presented in huge, epic productions, New Line will give you a new look at this story, making it more intimate physically and consequently more emotional and more powerful. In addition, New Line will scale back the orchestral sound of the Broadway production and return the show to its rock and roll roots.
