In The Farrell Auditorium
Ethiopian artist Elias Sime creates large-scale modular artworks from discarded technological material that explore themes ranging from environmentalism and globalization to the history of modern art. In addition to his studio practice, Sime co-founded and helps run Zoma Museum, an Addis Ababa institution dedicated to community engagement and sustainability that is comprised of a school, farm, library, garden, café, and exhibition space. The artist will discuss his practice and the work presented in the exhibition Currents 118: Elias Sime with Hannah Klemm, associate curator of modern and contemporary art, and Meskerem Assegued, curator and co-director, Zoma Museum, Addis Ababa.
