The Shape of Abstraction: Trumpet and Voice, Call and Response

Quincy Troupe, poet, editor, and author; Keyon Harrold, trumpeter, composer, and music producer

This collaborative performance explores abstraction in visual art, poetry, and jazz. It will feature images of works of art by Black artists from the Thelma and Bert Ollie Memorial Collection, readings of poems including “The Shape of Abstraction; for Ron Ollie” by Quincy Troupe, and original jazz compositions by Keyon Harrold.

Supported by a grant from the Trio Foundation of St. Louis.

American Sign Language interpretation will be offered for this program.
