RUBBERBAND makes its Dance St. Louis debut. For over 20 years, the company, based in Montréal, Québec, has been creating and developing its own style, the RUBBERBAND Method – an electrifying vocabulary combining the energy of hip-hop, the refinement of classical ballet and the angular quality of contemporary dance. 

RUBBERBAND Artistic Director and Choreographer Victor Quijada, a classically trained dancer with Twyla Tharp and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, presents Vic’s Mix, a collection of “Greatest Hits” of Quijada’s work, orchestrating the clash between urban pop and classical composition. 

Set to music by Jasper Gahunia, Canadian composer, DJ, producer, songwriter and musician, the score includes favorites by iconic composers – Vivaldi, Bach, Prokofiev, and Verdi among others.

Los Angeles native Victor Quijada brings together classical dance composition and West Coast hip-hop like no one before him. Bursting onto the scene with his Montreal-based company in 2002, Quijada uprooted the boundaries of contemporary dance, creating a singular language that is uniquely his own. His dance technique, the RUBBERBAND Method, is now taught in some of the most prestigious dance schools and conservatories from Los Angeles to London. For more than 24 years, RUBBERBAND has represented Canadian artistic innovation across the United States, and in Europe, Mexico, and Japan.
