This Whitaker Jazz Speaks event will celebrate the city’s vibrant jazz scene of the 1920s and 1930s, an era that shaped national musical trends yet remains under-recognized. Blending lecture, live performance, and archival storytelling, the program will trace St. Louis’s transformation from a ragtime hub to a swing powerhouse. This evening highlights local innovators who bridged blues, dance, and early jazz.
