This stunning 2024 film tells the story of a cat trying to survive after his home is destroyed by a flood. Flow earned critical acclaim and won both the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for best animated feature. Writing in The New York Times, critic Calum Marsh praised director Gints Zilbalodis for avoiding the sentimentality and predictability associated with animated films about animals. “The animals act like real animals, not like cartoons or humans, and that restraint gives their adventure an authenticity that, in moments of both delight and peril, makes the emotion that much more powerful,” Marsh wrote.
Rated PG; 1 hour, 25 minutes.
