Welcome back guest lecturer Jeanne Zarucchi, professor of art history and French at the University of Missouri–St. Louis.
Works enter the Museum’s collection through thoughtful acquisition, reflecting the artistic priorities of their time while contributing to an enduring collection. From the quiet intimacy of Louise Adéone Drölling’s Interior with Young Woman Tracing a Flower to the raw drama of Antoine-Louis Barye’s Tiger Devouring a Gavial, these works illustrate how the taste and style of the time affect the development of our collection. Join Zarucchi as she explores the contexts in which these works were acquired and the enduring impact they have within the Museum’s collection today.
