Be among the first to explore the artistry of lace with Genevieve Cortinovis, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Associate Curator of Decorative Arts and Design, in this exclusive Member lecture celebrating the opening of European Lace in Art and Fashion.
Step into a world where delicate threads weave stories of power, identity, and desire across early modern Europe. This exhibition brings together intricate lace pieces—many on view for the first time—revealing the remarkable technical skill behind these fragile masterpieces, created long before machines transformed textile production. Consider how lace both shaped and reflected the complex social fabric of class, gender, and labor.
This lecture is part of a daylong Member preview celebration of European Lace in Art and Fashion. The exhibition will be open to Members only from 10 am to 9 pm on Thursday, March 18.
