Karlovsky & Company Dance presents
SHIFTING TIME
March 20-21, 2026 - 7:30pm
The Grandel - St. Louis, MO
SHIFTING TIME is an evening-length work of dance-theater exploring thoughts, perceptions, and experiences of human and environmental time. Conceived and choreographed by artistic director, Dawn Karlovsky, and guest collaborator Megan Nicely, director of Megan Nicely | Dance (SF Bay Area), the work will be restaged after its St. Louis and SF Bay Area premieres in 2019. SHIFTING TIME returns in 2026, reimagined with fresh depth and perspective.
This work features original choreography by Karlovsky and Nicely, and original sound scores by St. Louis musicians Tory Starbuck and Kalo Hoyle. SHIFTING TIME offers new perspectives on dance through the incorporation of post-modern and Japanese butoh influences, creating striking theatrical images that awaken memories and pose questions for our future.
