Chase away the winter blues with an inspiring evening of American Impressionism, led by Amy Torbert, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Associate Curator of American Art.
Take a closer look at four captivating landscapes from the Museum’s collection. Torbert will explore the luminous works The Rainbow’s Source by John Twachtman, and Woman Standing near a Pond by Edward Mitchell Bannister—one of the first African American artists to gain national recognition—alongside the ever-popular The Plaza After the Rain by Paul Cornoyer. She will also introduce a recent addition to the collection, Edge of the Forest: a radiant landscape by Charlotte Buell Coman, a pioneering artist whose career spanned nearly five decades.
