Some Things Must Be Heard : Spitting & Politicking is a Spoken Word, Communal Healing, and Community Building Platform that merges Art, Activism, and Community Organizing.
Our ultimate goal is to move people to take action in their own lives and/or in the community at large. We provide a brave space for community members to connect, express, and address the issues that affect us all.
We host open mics and closed mic productions and our upcoming open mic event on Saturday May, 25th we will feature 3 phenomenal women who have made monumental changes in their community and around the world.
Dianna Tyler aka Goddess Warrior the Poet is a Published Author, 2021 Chicago Music Awards Best
Spoken Word Artist of the Year. She is also a mother of Twin Boys, Domestic Violence Survivor and Advocate against Violence of all kinds.
Rae Lay Down the Truth is Spoken Word Artist, who has been writing poetry for 20 years and performing for 3 she is also a Self Published Author of”'Red Roses Poetry Book ONE'”, C.O.O of Peoples Choice Tv a globally streaming network, Award winning Female Poet 22' 'Yours Awards 2022 and the Curator of LIT LINGUISTICS STL POETRY SHOWCASE.
Brittany Ferrell Young (she/her) is a mother, political organizer, filmmaker, birth worker, and Nursing Science PhD candidate at Washington University in St. Louis. A practitioner of telling more complete stories and identifying solutions to improve health outcomes for Black women and gender diverse people, her research interrogates historical conjunctures of systemic racism, chronic stress, and reproductive health.
